- Welcome to Mongolia, land of boundless horizons. As your plane glides over the vast steppe, the capital city slowly unfolds beneath you. At the airport, your Travel Buddies driver greets you with a warm smile and an open road. Settle into your hotel and let the day be yours — wander Sukhbaatar Square under big skies, listen to the deep stillness of Gandan Monastery, or browse handcrafted treasures in the State Department Store.

Day 2 – Fly to Khuvsgul | Ancient Stones & Northern Air
- This morning, board a flight toward Mongolia’s northern wilds — where mountains rise sharply and rivers shine like polished glass. Upon arrival, visit Uushigiin Uvur Deer Stones, ancient Bronze Age monuments that stand as testament to a fascinating era, featuring intricate carvings of majestic deer and symbolic figures that tell stories of the past. As you explore these remarkable stones, you will have the opportunity to learn about their historical and cultural significance, gaining insight into the ancient civilizations that once thrived in this region. Day 3 – Lake Khövsgöl | The Blue Pearl’s Embrace
- Travel north to the jewel of the taiga — Lake Khövsgöl, deep and impossibly blue, known as Mongolia’s most sacred waters. Full day exploring Lake Khövsgöl, also called Mongolia’s “Blue Pearl.” This stunning lake is known for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views.

Day 4 – Ulaan-Uul Village | Into the Darkhad Valley
- Travel to the Darkhad valley; a home of Darkhad small ethnic group of Mongolia. Witness the beauty of Khoridol Saridag Mountain and Darkhad valley. Also, enjoy a stopover at 13-ovoo – Shamanic ritual cairn place. Rough ride through the mountain pass and river valley to arrive in Ulaan uul village and stay overnight in a local guesthouse.

Day 5 – Journey to the Tsaatan | Into the Taiga
- Venture deeper into the northern frontier, where the forests thicken and the air grows sharper. Meet your Tsaatan host, a reindeer herder who will guide you into the western taiga. Mount sturdy horses and ascend through mountains and Siberian larch woods until the world opens to the Tsaatan community, a nomadic camp where reindeer graze softly among teepees. Settle into your teepee, embraced by forest silence and the gentle companionship of reindeer bells.

Most hotels we partner with are within a short distance of Sukhbaatar Square, restaurants, and shops, allowing guests to explore the capital with ease. Tourist Ger Camps – Simple Comfort in Nature Most nights are spent in tourist ger camps, which provide a cozy and clean base near major attractions. These camps offer the traditional charm of Mongolia’s circular gers (yurts) while maintaining basic hotel standards. - Half a day of guided horse trekking into the rugged taiga and Darkhad Valley is required to reach the Tsaatan reindeer herders.
- Treks traverse rivers, alpine meadows, and forest trails, allowing travelers to experience Mongolia like a nomad.
