Temperatures range from +15°C in the daytime to +3°C at night in the north and west. This expedition combines cultural immersion, wilderness travel, and festival photography.

Photography Focus & Support

This is not a sightseeing trip — it’s a visual storytelling journey. Each location and activity is selected for light, cultural depth, and authentic interaction. Your guide and local fixers will help organize portrait sessions, manage timing for sunrise/sunset, and coordinate access to reindeer and eagle hunters. Photography themes include: - Nomadic portraits (reindeer herders & eagle hunters) - Animal–human relationships (eagles, reindeer, horses) - Daily life, crafts, and rituals - Vast landscapes and seasonal color

Accommodation

Ulaanbaatar & Murun Hotels (4★ / Local) – Comfortable stays with heating, Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms. Jargant Lodge – Warm wooden cabins by a river with shared bathrooms and home-cooked meals. Teepee Camp – Traditional reindeer herder tents with sleeping bags and wood stoves. Rustic but unforgettable. Lake Khuvsgul Ger Camp – Standard tourist camp with twin-bed gers and hot showers. Ulgii Local Hotel – Simple, clean guesthouse near the festival grounds.

Meals

Meals are included as stated. Expect hearty Mongolian dishes and locally prepared meals in lodges and camps. Vegetarian and special dietary options available with advance notice.

Transportation

All Travel Buddies photography expeditions use private 4WD vehicles with reliable local drivers experienced in remote routes. Domestic flights operated by MIAT or Hunnu Air.

Led by professional English-speaking local guides. All staff understand photographers’ needs for patience, lighting, and time.

When to Travel

Best month: September – when Mongolia’s north and west glow with autumn color, the reindeer camps are accessible, and eagle festivals begin. Average temperatures: - Khuvsgul region: +10°C to +18°C - Ulgii region: +8°C to +15°C Clear skies and crisp air create perfect lighting conditions.

Booking & Payment

To confirm your booking, a 30% deposit is required, payable via online payment (Visa or Mastercard) or bank transfer. Please note that card payments incur a 3% processing fee, which is borne by the client. Bank transfers do not have any additional charges.
